about me

I am a maker, creator and artist working primarily with textiles.
I stitch, screen print, natural plant dye and crochet using organic and natural materials - hemp, linen, silk, cotton.

I enjoy working with the process and seeing what evolves from the slow journey of making - simple stitches across textural fabric is enough to make me smile. I like bright and crazy colours, as well as dull and neutral tones. Inky blues and mulberry purples are particularly lovely.

I am (mostly) self-taught in my sewing, screen printing and pattern-making. Having grown up in an artistic family, I was exposed to a lot of different creative techniques and now continue some of these in my daily art making. I learnt screen printing at both school and TAFE, but have further developed my skills in this area through years of practice. I now run screen printing workshops for beginners.

I do not call myself an artist or a crafter. Simply someone who makes. I enjoy the idea of being all at once, and exploring the ideas behind these names. I make simply because I enjoy it - experimenting and learning (and forgetting) along the way.

Making for me is about remembering my childhood while also making memories for my children. Taking time to keep old skills alive is something that interests me.

I have been an active blogger, and social media net-worker (both online and in real) for many years. I began selling my handcrafted label (Red Seed Studio, co-designed with my husband) seven years ago; and have attended many market stalls and craft fairs with my range.

I founded and organise the Tweed River Art Gallery Artisan Designers market twice a year. I also present Creative Business talks and creative gathering events.
